The Magic Gene & Biography

Bertie inherited the interest and skills inconjuring from his maternal grandfatherCharles Derek Hill (1906 - 1979).

Derek and his older brothers, Keith and Ronald, developed their family's Victorian tradition of after-dinner entertainment into a sophisticated performance using the very latest ideas in magic, lighting, sound recording and music.

Bertie's grandparents -

Many of the magical devices, used in their shows to family and friends and to the staff of the family firm Higgs and Hill, were designed and made by the brothers. Some of them are used by Bertie to this day. Many of his newest props are made by his uncle, David Hill.
